Many things can form a flood such as; overflow of a body of water, a large amount of snow melting, or a very high amount of rain. Floods cause a lot of damage to the environment. The main issue you being that it destroys many living things habitats like the woods and houses. Floods have the highest kill rate of all natural disasters at 200 people in a single year. When it comes to the environment, floods are very dangerous. Some effects of them include; Ruined crops, Flooded homes, and floods the woods which are home to many animals. When a field of crops get flooded, it ruins the soil and pulls the crops out of their roots. This affects food for not just the farmer but anyone who depends on his or her crops. Floods can also destroy homes, filling them with water and ruining all things inside. If electronics are in the home, it can cause water to become very dangerous. Finally when it comes to the wooded areas home to many animals, floods can kill the plants they live in and cause some animals to drown. An example of this damage is the 1931 china floods. This flood took not only around 2 million people’s lives but also caused water based diseases like Cholera and typhus. This also caused loss of crops and starvation. This made it difficult on the environment for many years to come. This flood mostly affected the human population and their environment more than other animals.
